The Digital Learner Support Hub (DLSH) is a collaborative project between ULs 5 Learning Centres (LC).
We will offer some of the supports that we traditionally provide in the centres face-to-face (F2F) on-line.
This is to meet our aim of increasing the reach, accessibility, and utility of our supports to our ever-changing student population, to make our supports more useful and relevant to modern undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Online supports offered for a number of historically difficult modules and disciplines.
- Access wherever you are whenever suits you best!
- Supports complement our traditional supports so you can still call in to talk to us in person!
This project is funded by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching & Learning in Higher Education. For more details please visit:
The Model
Our model is based on tiers.
- For each support,
- Tier 1: An 'asynchronous' (non-interactive) support is made available to the students.
- Tier 2: Following this a 'synchronous' (interactive) session follows for students to deepen their understanding.
- Tier 3: If after both these supports a student still feels they need more help they can call into the LC for more one-to-one help.
DLSH Supports
A number of support types are used at each tier of the DLSH. These are broken into three distinct groups which are:
- Asynchronous: either a video or Sulis lesson page
- Synchronous: either a live Big Blue Button ® conference call or a moderated forum
- Face-to-Face: in-person chat either one-to-one or as a group at the Learning Centre (LC)
Feedback Loop
From each session, we gain feedback which helps us to tweak any previous tiers' support or to help guide us on what support we should provide next.
